Initiating a Project on TI-92/DERIVE-Supported Calculus Teaching in Turkey

Abstract:

Among others, the graphic calculators have such potential to make the teacher free time but also new roles. In this report, we will summarise and discuss our experiences in pre- and in-service education of mathematics teachers and in staff development programs for teacher educators in Turkey. We have designed a set of various seminars, workshop and in-service courses on the use of graphic calculators in teaching of various topics in school mathematics, eg. algebra, pre-calculus and calculus. We will exhibit the sample of designed activities on TI-92/Derive supported calculus teaching materials as well as the response, views and thought of mathematics teachers and teacher educators.
