Throughout the world, Vienna has a reputation as the capital of music. Nowhere else have so many famous musicians and composers lived and worked - Johann Strauss, the “Waltz King”, Franz Schubert, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

The Vienna Boys’ Choir perform works in the Brahms-Saal of the Vienna Musikverein every Friday. They are also singing mass on Sundays in the Chapel of the Imperial Palace.

Vienna is the only city in the world in which two opera houses offer a different program of opera, operetta and ballet every day. The repertoire of the Vienna State Opera comprises some 50 operas and 40 ballets. At the smaller Volksoper there are some 50 permanent performances.
